Open data of public spending purposes to augment transparency and clarity regarding public sector expenditure, as well as to enhance citizen engagement and awareness.

The proposed ontology for public spending in Greece functions in three levels: (a) checks the validity of available data (from the open API of Clarity Program http://diavgeia.gov.gr/en and the Greek Taxation Information System, www.gsis.gr) and partially cleans and reconstructs false entries, (b) interconnects them to existing ontological (e.g. UK payments ontology, FOAF, Core Business and Persons Vocabularies) and data schemes from other countries, and (c) provides raw and processed data under a publicly accessible Web point (in SPARQL) for further statistical analysis and visualization.
